HoR meeting adjourned after disagreement among parties
KATHMANDU, July 31: The meeting of the House of Representatives called for today was adjourned after CPN UML took a stand that it will not allow the parliament to run until there is a commitment to form a high-level committee to investigate the case of smuggling of around a quintal of gold. Shekhar Adhikari, the press advisor of Speaker Devraj Ghimire, informed that the meeting has been adjourned until 1 pm on Tuesday.
In the discussion held by the Speaker with the chief whip and whips of the party on Monday, the UML maintained its stand to continue obstructing the parliament until a high-level committee for investigation is formed. On July 26 as well, UML obstructed the House of Representatives by demanding the formation of a high-level committee. UML whip Mahesh Bartaula said that they had put their points and demands in the discussion, but an agreement was not made.
