Public Accounts Committee draws government’s attention to forming high-level investigation commission

KATHMANDU, July 30: The Public Accounts Committee has drawn the attention of the government for a fair investigation into the issue of about a quintal of gold that was smuggled through the Customs Office of the Tribhuwan International Airport.
In the Committee’s meeting held on Sunday, after the MPs of various parties demanded the formation of an inquiry committee on the gold smuggling case, senior member and the chairman of the committee, Arjun Narasingh KC, said that he would draw the attention of the government to the formation of an inquiry committee.
In the meeting, UML MP Yogesh Bhattarai raised the issue of the formation of an inquiry committee in the gold smuggling case in the committee, which most of the MPs also agreed to.
Similarly, there is a shortage of drinking water in the Terai region, along with a shortage of water for irrigation, which was also an issue that the committee drew the attention of the government to solve the problem.
