Revenue Investigation Department raids Hotel Vienna in Thamel
KATHMANDU, July 30: The Department of Revenue Investigation raided Hotel Vienna in Thamel, Kathmandu. An officer involved in the investigation told Ratopati that the raid was conducted after receiving information that a person related to the smuggling case of around a quintal of gold that had left the airport was staying there.
On July 19, the Department of Revenue Investigation seized the gold brought from Hong Kong by 'Ready Trade Pvt Ltd', from outside the gate of the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office and is currently investigating. "Ready Trade Pvt Ltd" brought the gold to Kathmandu by hiding in the "brake pads" of motorcycles and scooters.
So far, 18 people, including Chinese and Indian nationals, have been arrested in the case.
