Gold smuggling case: Revenue Investigation Department raids warehouse

KATHMANDU, July 20: The Revenue Investigation Department has raided the warehouse of the Chinese citizen at Baluwatar in Kathmandu.

The warehouse is reported to belong to the Chinese citizen, Ling Chuwan, who is suspected of smuggling gold from Tribhuwan Airport. A senior revenue official informed that the Department has sealed the warehouse and started the investigation.

Ling Chuwan, who was about to go to China, was arrested at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) on suspicion of being involved in the smuggling of around 1 quintal of gold that was seized on Wednesday from the TIA premises.

The Chinese citizen was handed over to the Department of Revenue Investigation for further investigation on Thursday.
