Gold seized yesterday being measured today, Preparations to suspend employees involved in check pass
KATHMANDU, July 20: Department of Revenue Investigation will measure the quantity of the gold that was seized from the Tribhuwan International Airport on Wednesday evening.
The gold arrived from Hong Kong, it has been confirmed. 6 people including the Taxi Driver that were involved in smuggling the gold have been arrested. The gold, which had passed through the airport, was seized when it was about to be loaded in a taxi from the front of the airport customs gate.
Director General of the Department of Revenue Investigation, Navaraj Dhungana, informed that the gold is estimated to be around one quintal.
Following the incident, preparations have been made to suspend the employees involved in the case of gold smuggling by the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office. The Director General of the Customs Department, Shobhakanta Paudel, said to Ratopati that the employees involved in the inspection will be immediately suspended and an investigation will be carried out.
