For the past 15 months, a 35 km train service was in operation from Jayanagar to Kurtha in India which has been increased to a distance of 52 km after an additional 17 km has been increased.

After the construction of the additional 17 km stretch, India’s Ircon Company Limited handed it over to Nepal Railway Company on June 1, followed by the expansion of the train service in the area.

Initially, there was a daily service from Janakpur to Jayanagar once and from Jayanagar to Janakpur once, but since November last year, they are serving four times a day with two departures and two arrivals.

The General Manager of Nepal Railway, Niranjan Jha, said that from tomorrow (Monday) the service will be extended and the train will depart three times and arrive three times a day. But currently, the train service to Bhangaha station will only have one departure and one arrival a day (going in the morning and returning in the evening), he informed.
