Highway blocked by locals in protest against Mirchaiya's Mayor

SIRAHA, July 10: Local residents have blocked the East-West Mahendra Highway accusing Siraha Mirchaiya's mayor Shrawan Kumar Yadav of committing gang violence.

Hundreds of vehicles have been stranded after the blockade. The local residents blocked the road in protest claiming that Mayor Yadav tried to kill the protestors, vandalised their houses and defied the orders of the court. They are demanding to arrest the mayor and take legal action against him.

On the 10th and 23rd of February and on the 11th of March, the Mirchaiya Municipality vandalized and removed about three dozen houses in the market area. Regarding this incident, the residents have been protesting saying that the Municipality has abused them.

Protests have been going on for a long time against the incident of house demolition in Mirchaiya Bazar by the Municipality.
