Call to be made for new government formation in Koshi Province
BIRATNAGAR, July 2: After the collapse of the UML-led government in the Koshi province, the provincial chief has prepared to call for the formation of a new government today. Before this, the parties consulted with the provincial chief Parshuram Khapung.
The vote of confidence proposed by the Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Karki, failed by the Provincial Assembly on Friday. With the collapse of the Karki-led government formed under Clause (2) of Article 168 of the Constitution, UML has been saying that according to Clause (3) of the same article of the Constitution, a government should be formed under its own leadership.
However, the opposition parties are saying that the government should be formed as per Clause (2) of Article 168 of the Constitution as the possibility of the government formation under this is still there.
Both parties had discussed this matter with the provincial chief Khapung at separate times on Friday. Meanwhile, as the provincial chief is preparing to call for the formation of the government today, the leaders of the UML, Congress, Maoist and other parties of the province have arrived in the capital Kathmandu to form the government by gathering a majority.
