Lalita Niwas Case: Arrest warrant against 406 people
KATHMANDU, June 28: The police have obtained an arrest warrant against a total of 406 defendants in the Lalita Niwas land embezzlement case, informed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) in a press conference on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, CIB arrested seven people accused of embezzling the land of Lalita Niwas in Baluwatar by forging government documents. Among them, Surendra Man Kapali, who had already obtained a stay order from the court, Kaladhar Deuja, the then Chief of the Land Revenue Office Dillibazar, and Hupendra Mani KC, were released by the police with paperwork.
The other arrested are former Commissioner Sudhir Shah, businessman Min Bahadur Gurung, the then Branch Officer Dharma Prasad Gautam, and a former employee of the land revenue office Gopal Karki.
