JSP Statute Convention concludes

6-member committee formed for verification of statute

KATHMANDU, June 27: The statute convention of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal has concluded. The 3-day statute convention that started on June 25 concluded today with the discussion of the draft statute. Party Chairman and coordinator of the Draft Formation Committee Upendra Yadav presented the draft statute.

10 different groups were formed to discuss the draft. The group discussed the statute throughout the day on Monday. The leaders had their views on issues such as National Committee with Identity, Federal Council, Age limit, etc. Most of them said that the National Committee should be abolished, while some said that the Federal Council is not needed.

Some people were not satisfied with the age limit of 70 years in the statute, while others welcomed it. All these topics have been taken as suggestions.

A 6-member committee has been formed to discuss whether or not to include the issues raised in the convention in the statute. The committee formed under the chairmanship of JSP Chair Upendra Yadav consists of senior leader Rajendra Shrestha, Executive members Rakam Chemjong, Lalbabu Raut, Sushila Shrestha and leader Dipendra Jha.

Purna Basnet, Head of the Publicity Department, said that the statute will be implemented only after the committee finalizes and validates it, and will not come into effect until the committee approves.

The committee will study the topics raised in the convention from Wednesday onwards and only then what topics to include in the statute and what not, will be discussed to finalize and verify.

Concluding the session, Chairman Yadav expressed the view that the National Committee will be more powerful as this statute will carry the issue of identity. Since the struggle for identity is still pending, JSP will lead it and for that purpose, the national committee and the provincial committee will be strengthened to move forward, he put his opinion.

Stating that this convention has added more energy to the party, he instructed to carry forward the political activities of the party accordingly after the statute was implemented.
