Way to receive Citizenship opened
KATHMANDU, June 22: After the Supreme Court refused to issue an interim order, a way to receive citizenship has opened. The Supreme Court has refused to give an interim order regarding the writ related to the Citizenship Bill Authentication.
The joint bench of Justices, Dr. Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Kumar Regmi, on Thursday, ordered that the short-term interim order given earlier by the one-judge bench should not be continued. With this, the previous restrain in the implementation of the bill which was approved by President Ramchandra Paudel has been lifted.
The bill that was passed by the previous parliament and sent for verification was appealed to the Supreme Court saying it was verified by the latter parliament and the president elected from it. In the writ filed by senior advocate Balkrishna Neupane and Dr. Surendra Bhandari, a single bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma had issued a show cause and short-term interim order in the name of the opposition.
In the hearing held on Thursday regarding the continuation of the short-term interim order, the joint bench of Justices Bhattarai and Regmi ordered that the short-term interim order should not be continued, which has opened a way to get citizenship for those who are eligible to get the citizenship based on the approved bill.
