SC orders not to implement decision to withdraw case, relief to Chalaune

KATHMANDU, June 22: The Supreme Court has given an interim order that has brought relief to the Associate Professor of the Tribhuwan University, Prem Chalaune. The Supreme Court issued an interim order on Thursday deciding not to implement the government’s decision to withdraw the case against those who assaulted Chalaune with killing intent.

The bench of Judge Manoj Kumar Sharma has also issued a show-cause order in this regard in the name of the government. Chalaune went to the Supreme Court on Wednesday and registered a writ against the decision after the government decided to withdraw the case against those who tried to kill him by assaulting him. The writ registered on Wednesday was filed on Thursday.

On October 6, 2020, the workers of the Nepal Students Association attacked the Associate Professor of Sociology, Chalaune. The group of Tribhuwan University Nepal Students Association Chairman Hari Acharya had attacked Chalaune. There was a case against 5 people including Acharya in the District Court Kathmandu.
