35 million corruption lawsuit filed against ex-Director General of Irrigation Department

KATHMANDU, June 19: A corruption lawsuit has been filed against the ex-Director General of the Water Resources and Irrigation Department, Madhukar Prasad Rajbhandari, by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority in the Special Court on Monday.

According to the Authority, they found illegal assets of more than 35 million during their investigation against the ex-Director General Rajbhandari.

The investigation showed that he earned a total of 38 million 551 thousand 740 rupees and 48 paisa in a legitimate manner during his public service. But as his wealth is 74 million 229 thousand 86 rupees and 65 paisa in total, the Authority filed the case for corruption.

As the money earned by the Rajbhandari was also found in his wife Dipa Shrestha’s name, the Authority has demanded to confiscate their assets.
