Indian films banned in Metropolitan from tomorrow

KATHMANDU, June 18: Indian films will be banned from screening in Kathmandu Metropolitan City from tomorrow.

Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balen Shah informed through social media that screening of any Indian movie will be prohibited in Kathmandu Metropolitan City from tomorrow.
3 days ago, Mayor Shah had called for the removal of the objectionable line from the movie which stated "Janaki is a daughter of India".

Balen Shah claimed that Clause (6) of Article 5 and 56 of the Constitution of Nepal states the responsibility of protecting the national interest to the Union, Province and local governments. "If the film is shown as it is, Nepal's nationality, cultural unity and national identity will be severely damaged and irreparable damage will be done", Shah said, "The cultural encroachment on Nepal by that movie has attracted serious attention of the Metropolitan City".
