Counter-argument of government attorney completed, Detention order to come today

KATHMANDU, June 16: The debate going on in the fake Bhutanese refugee case at the District Court Kathmandu has ended. The debate that started on June 4 concluded on Friday, today.

In the counter-argument on behalf of the Government Attorney on Friday, Associate Attorney Achyutmani Neupane, District Attorneys Mahesh Khatri and Laxman Ghimire and Assistant District Attorney Nirmala Marasini debated against the defendants and demanded that the defendants be kept in custody.

Bhadraprasad Nepal (Swagat Nepal) and Dhrubalal Shrestha, who debated on behalf of the complainant, have also insisted that the case should be continued by keeping the defendants in custody as the situation will get dangerous if the defendants are left outside and the punishment for them is certain to be more than three years of imprisonment.

After the counter-argument, Judge Prem Prasad Neupane left the courtroom looking at the clock and saying that he would try to get an order. Even if it is late on Friday, the detention order is expected to come today.

The detention order will be given to the 18 defendants who have been arrested so far, and an order will be issued as to who among the defendants will be sent to prison for pre-trial detention, who will be released on bail, or who will be released on simple bail.
