RPP set to form directive committee

Kathmandu - The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is all set to form a directive committee four months after the conclusion of its unity general convention.

A provision had been enshrined in the party's statute to pave the way for the formation of the committee when problems surfaced in course of the merger between the then RPP and RPP Nepal. The committee would be tasked with regulating the central leadership and handing out suggestions.

An agreement had been reached earlier to appoint senior leader Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani as the coordinator of the committee. Lohani resigned from the party's membership after he was not given the opportunity.

RPP leader Rajaram Shrestha said an informal understanding has been reached with the party's establishment side and the disgruntled faction. The party will choose the coordinator of the committee in the central committee meeting slated for Wednesday.
