25 lawyers to debate on behalf of Balkrishna Khand today
KATHMANDU, June 13: A detention hearing from the side of former Home Minister Balkrishna Khand is being held today. Twenty-five lawyers will argue in favor of Khand, who is also a leader of the Nepali Congress, who was arrested in the case of the fake Bhutanese refugees.
25 people, including the former attorney general, former as well as the current president of the Nepal Bar Association, have submitted their names for the debate on behalf of the accused. Among those who were arrested in the case, detention hearing of six people including Khand, is remaining.
The debate on behalf of the 18 accused who have been arrested started last Wednesday.
In the fake Bhutanese refugee case, a case has been filed against 30 people in the Kathmandu District Court on four charges including crime against the state, organized crime and fraud.
