Supreme Court orders to register case against Prachanda

KATHMANDU, June 9: The Supreme Court has ordered to register a writ against the then chairman of CPN Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ regarding the use of children as soldiers. On Friday, the order to register the writ was given by Justice Dr. Anandamohan Bhattarai's single bench.

Former child soldier Lenin Bista had gone to the Supreme Court with a writ demanding that the then leadership be prosecuted because the child soldiers used in the Maoist war were an act against international humanitarian law. But after the Supreme Court dismissed the writ petition, Bista went to the Supreme Court against the dismissal of the writ.

Bista has demanded prosecution of the leadership of the then CPN Maoist like Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, saying that children had been used as soldiers.
