Gaur massacre case submitted to Justice Raut's bench

KATHMANDU, June 8: The writ against the Gaur massacre case has been submitted to the bench of Justice Prakashman Singh Raut. The writ was filed by Tribhuwan Shah demanding an investigation of the massacre case and legal actions against the culprit.

On 21st March 2007, 28 Maoist members were killed when the Madhesi People’s Rights Forum and the CPN-Maoists organized their programs in the same place at the rice mill in Gaur, Rautahat. The leaders, workers and criminal groups associated with the Forum were claimed to be involved in the massacre.

The family and relatives of the victim filed a case in the Supreme Court on Sunday, claiming the police did not investigate and proceed with the case when they filed a report.

On behalf of the victim’s family, Tribhuwan Shah has registered a writ demanding a case to be filed based on re-investigation and the report received. The writ was filed against the Prime Minister's Office and the Council of Ministers, Ministry of Home Affairs, Police Headquarters, District Police Office Rautahat and District Public Prosecutor Office Rautahat.

The writ filed in the bench of Justice Raut is numbered "Jha" today. An order of dispatch has been claimed in the writ.
