Government imposes ban on digging roads from mid-June till mid-September

KATHMANDU, June 8: Action will be taken if anyone digs roads during the rainy season. The Federal Road Supervision and Monitoring Office under the Department of Roads has issued a public notice about not giving permission to dig roads during the rainy season.

No one will be allowed to dig roads from the first of the Nepali month Asar (which falls on June 16) till the end of Bhadra (which is September 17). The department has said that during this time, the roads under the Federal Road Supervision and Monitoring Office Kathmandu and road divisions will not be given permission to be dug.

As said in the notice, people are banned from digging the roads during the time as during rainy season, if the road is dug for the purposes of water, sewerage, electricity, telephone, etc., it cannot be immediately repaired and restored to its old state and the road will deteriorate further.

The government has warned that strict action will be taken according to the Public Roads Act if anyone is found digging the road forcibly.
