Palpa Jeep accident update: 5 people dead including mother and son

BUTWAL, June 5: The number of dead casualties from the jeep accident on Sunday evening in Palpa’s Rainadevi Chhahara Municipality-8 has increased to 5. The death toll increased after one more person died during treatment in Butwal on Monday morning.

According to the District Police Office Palpa’s Deputy Superintendent of Police, Birendra Thapa, 55-year-old Shyamkala Pariyar of Panini Rural Municipality-1 of Arghakhanchi, 26-year-old driver Ramesh Vick of Panini, 25-yar-old Sita Gautam of Panini 2 Pokhara Thok, two-year-old Samyog Gautam of Pokhara Thok and 37-year-old Bijay Pokharel of Panini (Krishna Prasad) were among the deceased. It was revealed that Sita and Samyog were mother and son. 

2-year-old Samyog Gautam and Bijay Pokharel (Krishna Prasad) died in a hospital during treatment while the other 3 died on the spot. The accident took place on Sunday evening in a jeep numbered Lu 1 Cha 9024 en route to Panena in Arghakhanchi from Saljhandi, Rupandehi. The crashed jeep fell 70 meters below the road. Those injured in the accident are being treated at Lumbini Provincial Hospital Butwal and Chauraha Hospital.
