Balkrishna Khand's statement completed, Denies charges

KATHMANDU, May 17: The statement of the former Home Minister Balkrishna Khand has been completed. He was arrested on the charge of fraud in the case of making Nepalese into Bhutanese refugees and sending them to America. An officer of the District Government Attorney's Office informed Ratopati that Khand's statement was completed on Tuesday at 10 pm.

On Monday (May 15) as well, the police made him give a statement at the request of the government attorney. However, after answering 5 questions, Khand refused to give a statement, and his statement was taken again the next day. Khand has given a denial statement in the case of the fake Bhutanese refugee. "He has denied his crime in his statement," said an officer involved in the investigation.

The police have claimed that the gang ran the fraud in collusion with the then Home Minister Khand, Ministry Secretary Teknarayan Pandey, and Private Secretary Narendra KC by altering the report led by former Joint Secretary Balkrishna Panthi.

Now, among the accused, only the statement of the former assembly member Angtawa Sherpa remains.
