RSP's Dr. Wagle victorious in Tanahun-1

Vows to work for Tanahun people so that they would take pride

Damauli, April 25: Rashtriya Swatantra Party's candidate Dr. Swarnim Wagle has been elected a member of the House of Representatives (HoR) from Constituency No. 1 of Tanahun district by securing 34,919 votes in the by-elections. 

According to the assistant election officer, Min Bahadur Kunwar Dr. Wagle's nearest contender Govinda Bhattarai of the Nepali Congress got 20,122 votes, while CPN UML candidate Sarbendra Khanal got 8,488 votes. Likewise, Rastriya Prajanatra Party's candidate Shova Gurung received 218 votes, Prem Bahadur Thapa of Mongol National Organization got 166 votes, Bhim Bahadur Sunar of Nagarik Unmukti Party received 99 votes, Purna Bahadur Rana of Rastriya Janamukti got 87 votes, Nepal Workers Peasants Party's Ram Prasad Prajapati got 31 votes, and Ganesh Shrestha of CPN Socialist got 5 votes. A total of 65,316 votes were cast in the by-election while 64,135 were valid.

The by-election for HoR members was held in Tanahun-1 on April 23 after the HoR member post was lying vacant following the election of HoR member and leader of Nepali Congress Ram Chandra Paudel became the President.

After being elected a member of the House of Representatives (HoR), Dr. Swarnim Wagle has been provided a certificate of election victory from Constituency No. 1 of Tanahun district. Chief returning officer Komal Prasad Acharya conferred the certificate on Wagle amidst a program today. In the certificate handover program, the newly elected HoR member Dr. Wagle vowed to work for the people of Tanahun in such a way that people would take pride. He added that the agenda of development would be addressed. 

He took a pledge to ensure justice to people's expectations adding that he would work in collaboration and coordination with all political parties in Tanahun. On the occasion, chief returning officer Acharya thanked all sides for holding the election peacefully. Meanwhile, the nearest contender to Dr. Wagle, Govinda Bhattarai, congratulated Dr. Wagle for his win and extended best wishes to him.
