Balkot meeting: Agreement to appoint Chief Justice by convening meeting of Constitutional Council

KATHMANDU, April 17: The three major parties have agreed to proceed with the process of appointing the Chief Justice by holding a meeting of the Constitutional Council. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, in a meeting held on Monday at UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli's residence Balkot, proposed that a Chief Justice should be appointed, saying that the Supreme Court has been under the control of an acting Chief Justice for a long time. According to Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli agreed to the Prime Minister's proposal.

The leader Lekhak said that the Prime Minister will soon convene a Constitutional Council meeting and the process of appointing the Chief Justice will proceed. 

UML whip Mahesh Bartaula informed that there was also a discussion about giving completeness to the parliamentary committee.
