During the reign of King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the founder of modern Nepal, Ligligkot served as a fortification for the Shah dynasty's army. The fort was strategically located on a hilltop, providing a clear view of the surrounding valleys and hills, and was used as a lookout point to monitor any enemy movements.
