24th Nat'l conference of Limbu Community taking place in Chitwan
CHITWAN, Feb. 20: The 24th national conference of Kirat Yakthung Chumlung began at Bharatpur on Sunday.
Inaugurating the conference, former Chief of Province 1, Prof Dr. Govinda Bahadur Tumbahang, said it was the first priority to protect religion and culture.
He said, "Only the federal republic constitution protects our rights. The rights of the Limbu people will be addressed if federalism, republicanism and constitution are implemented. "
Similarly, the Central Advisor of Chulung, Chandra Maya Limbu, Province Assembly member Uttam Joshi, and former central committee member of Chumlung, Narendra Kandawa among others expressed their views.
Two hundred righty-eight representatives of 13 districts are participating in the conference. The two-day conference would determine the one-year policy and program. Similarly, the discussion would be held on the future course of action and its demands in the conference, said the District Chairperson of Chumlung, Janak Limbu.
As per the Census-2078, the population of Limbu is 387,000 in the country.
