Govt decides to hold by-election at Chitwa-2 on April 23

KATHMANDU, Fe 12: The government has decided to hold a by-election at Chitwan-2 on April 23.
A meeting of the Election Commission held on Sunday took a decision to this effect.
Rabi Lamichhane who was earlier elected a member of the House of Representatives from Chitwan-2 lost his position after the Supreme Court declared his citizenship illegal.
According to the Article 84 (7) of the Constitution of Nepal, in case the seat of any member of the House of Representatives falls vacant while its term still remains for more than six months, the vacancy shall be fulfilled in the same manner of electoral system as in which such seat was fulfilled.
