Sudurpaschim govt collapses, CM Rawal loses vote of confidence

KATHMANDU, Frb 9: The Sudurpaschim government collapsed on Thursday after the Chief Minister (CM) Rawal lost his vote of confidence on Thursday.
In the voting held today, ruling partner Nagarik Unmukti Party made a move against CM Rawal. The party did not attend the meeting to cast its vote.
Earlier, the Nagarik Unmukti Party had decided not to give a vote of confidence to the Sudurpaschim Province government. 
Rawal was appointed to the post of Chief Minister on January 11. According to the Constitution of Nepal, Rawal must seek a vote of confidence within a month of his appointment.
Of 53 members in the provincial assembly, Rawal needed 27 votes for majority. Nepali Congress, the opposition party in the provincial assembly, has 19 lawmakers, CPN-UML has 10, CPN (Maoist Center) has 11, Nagarik Unmukti Party has seven and Rastriya Prajatantra Party has one lawmaker.
