Basanta Shrawan of VVIPs (with pictures)

KATHMANDU, Jan. 26: President Bidyadevi Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Timilsina, and other high officials have reached Nasal Chowk in Hanumandhoka Palace and observed the Basanta Shrawan. On the occasion of Saraswati Puja, it is a tradition for the President to visit Basantapur and observe the Basanta Shrawan. This practice has been going on since the time of King Pratap Malla. According to the same tradition, the President who reached Nasalchowk was welcomed and saluted by a troop of the Nepali Army with Panchebaja. On this occasion, President Bhandari also received flower garlands, tika, and offerings from the priest.

Goddess Saraswati is worshiped all over the country on the day of Basanta Panchami. There is a scriptural statement that even if you just observe the Basanta Shrawan on the day of Basanta Panchami, you will get happiness, peace, and prosperity. It is believed that the spring season starts from the day of Basanta Panchami, and it is believed that the world takes a new form from this day itself.
