Decision to take support from all parties

KATHMANDU, Jan. 23: Nepali Congress has decided to run for the presidency. On Monday morning, the meeting of the top leaders of the party held at the residence of Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba at Dhumbarahi decided to run for the presidency with the support of all parties. Congress spokesperson Prakasharan Mahat told Ratopati, "Congress will nominate a candidate for the presidency. It was decided to move forward with the support of all parties for the president."
Spokesperson Mahat said that Congress has decided to draw the attention of the Election Commission and the government to conduct the presidential election on time. According to Mahat, leader Shekhar Koirala said that he did not say that he made a mistake by giving a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Prachanda. "I didn't say that. It was falsely advertised. There is no difference of opinion in giving a vote of confidence to the Prime Minister," he said. "What I did not say came out purposefully. I have refuted it," he added. Koirala had said that he would start gathering support for the presidential election.
