Dev Raj Ghimire elected Speaker of HoR

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Dev Raj Ghimire of CPN-UML, candidate of the ruling alliance, has been elected the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR).
Ghimire was elected the Speaker with the vote of 167 lawmakers in his favor. As many as 268 lawmakers were present during the election. 
Lawmakers of CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janata Samajbadi Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party and some independent lawmakers had voted for Ghimire.
