Election today to elect Speaker of Bagmati Provincial Assembly

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: An election is being held to elect the Speaker of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly on Friday.
As many as three candidates have filed their candidacy for the post.
Bhuvan Kumar Phatak of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party backed by the ruling alliance, Shivaraj Adhikari of the Nepali Congress and Srijana Sayaju of Nepal Workers Peasants Party are vying for the post.
Of the 110 member Bagmati Provincial Assembly, the RPP has 13 lawmakers, UML has 27, CPN (Maoist Center) has 21, CPN (Unified Socialist) has seven and Hamro Nepali Party has two lawmakers who are jointely supporting Phatak.
Likewise, the Nepali Congress has 37 lawmakers while Nepal Workers Peasants Party has three lawmakers.
