Three-point agreement between Prachanda and Oli

KATHMANDU, Jan. 3: A three-point agreement has been made by the Chairman of CPN-Maoist Center and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli. An influential minister informed Ratopati that there was a three-point consensus between Prachanda and Oli after Prachanda became Prime Minister with the support of seven parties and independent parliamentarians including UML, Maoist Centre, Rashtriya Swatantra Party and Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).

According to the minister, the first point of agreement is that the two leaders will alternate the terms of the prime minister. Similarly, in the second point of the agreement, this parliament will be allowed to run for five years and the parliament will not be dissolved in between. On the third point, the minister revealed that there was an agreement between the two leaders to maintain the alliance until the next election.

The minister said that since Oli-Prachanda had reached a gentlemanly agreement amidst doubts that the current parliament would last five years or not, efforts would now be made to create an atmosphere of trust even in this alliance. "Now the government will bring a minimum common program and create an environment where everyone will own it," he said. "Due to widespread disappointment among the public, short-term and long-term plans will also be made by creating a minimum common program," he further added.
