What is GGGI? Nepal becomes its 44th member state

KATHMANDU, July 21: Nepal has become a 44th member state of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI).

Following an endorsement of a proposal presented by the Minister for Forest and Environment, Pradip Yadav to be a member of GGGI by the House of Representatives (HoR) on Wednesday, Nepal has now formally been a 44th member state of the institution.

What is GGGI? 

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a treaty-based international, inter-governmental organization dedicated to supporting and promoting strong, inclusive and sustainable economic growth in developing countries and emerging economies.

GGGI was established as an international intergovernmental organization in 2012 at the Rio+20

United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. Its vision is a low-carbon, resilient world

of strong, inclusive, and sustainable growth and its mission to support Members in the

transformation of their economies into a green growth economic model.
