4.9 magnitude earthquake strikes Pokhara

KATHMANDU, June 23: A 4.9 magnitude earthquake hit Pokhara and surrounding areas in the wee hours today, according to the National Seismological Center. 

The quake rattled Pokhara at 3:56 AM with its epicenter at Dhampus of Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-7 in Kaski district. 

Shockwaves from the quake were felt in Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi and Tanahun districts, according to the local people. 

“However, no details of losses caused by the quake have been reported so far”, said ward chair of Dhampus, Baikuntha Bhandari.
