Drive launched to destroy illegally erected huts in Jajarkot

Jajarkot,  A drive has been launched to pull down houses and huts built illegally on public land in the district headquarters Jajarkot.
In the first phase, the drive is underway in the area from Mangalbazaar to Bheri Municipality-3. The District Forest Office was forced to resort to this act despite various calls to the land encroachers to vacate the land, said a DFO official.
Approximately 300 houses and huts have been erected illegally on public land in the district headquarters area.
Earlier a woman was arrested for defying DFO's order not to build a house on public land.
Likewise, Bheri Municipality has also issued a notice asking public land encroachers to vacate the land. In case of order disobey, a drive will be launched to destroy the illegally build huts in coordination with the DFO, said the municipality's mayor Chandra Prakash Gharti.
