Weather: Rain and snow forecast until Wednesday
KATHMANDU: The weather will be partly to generally cloudy throughout the country due to the influence of the westerly wind with chances of light snowfall at some places in the high hilly and mountainous regions, and of light rainfall at one or two places of the hilly region.
The influence of this system will remain until Wednesday, a meteorologist at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Sabina Shakya, said. She said the cold will increase with the drop in the maximum and minimum temperature due to the influence of Westerly.
On Monday, the weather will be generally cloudy in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and the rest of the hilly region while it will be partly cloudy in other regions. There is a possibility of light rainfall at a few places of the hilly region in Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces as well as other provinces. Likewise, there are chances of light to moderate snowfall at some places of the high hilly and mountainous region, the Department said.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division has urged one and all to adopt precaution and safety measures to protect from cold as the mercury is towards the dipping trend across the country given the chances of light snowfall at some places of the high hilly and mountainous regions and of light rainfall at one or two places of the hilly region along with occurrence of fog in the Terai region towards the morning.
The weather update shared by the Division shows that Kathmandu Valley recorded a minimum temperature of 4.1 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 17.4 degrees Celsius today. Similarly, Jumla recorded the lowest minimum temperature of minus 4.9 degrees Celsius while Bhairahawa recorded the highest maximum 28.3 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours.
