Deuba leading with 1,318 votes, Koirala trailing behind

KATHMANDU: Sher Bahadur Deuba is leading the vote-count for Nepali Congress (NC) presidency with 1,318 votes. 

Of the total 2,277 votes counted so far, Deuba’s nearest contender Dr Shekhar Koirala has garnered 1,023votes, 

While Prakash Man Singh got 205 votes, Bimalendra Nidhi won 166. Similarly, Kalyan Gurung has so far garnered 12 votes. 

As many as 4,679 delegates participated in the voting that ended at 11:30 PM on Monday. 

One needs to secure more than 50 percent votes to win the NC presidency, meaning 2,340 votes are required to be declared the winner. Otherwise, a run-off is held.
