Re-election to be held for post of NC’s Bagmati Province President
KATHMANDU, December 5: A re-election is to be held for the post of the president of Bagmati Province of Nepali Congress.
Leaders Indra Bahadur Baniya, Jagdeshwar Narasingh KC and Bhimsen Das Pradan are vying for the post of Bagmati Province President.
In the election held earlier, Baniya garnered 992 votes, KC garnered 872 votes and Pradan got 197 votes. All of these three candidates could not secure 51 percent of the total votes casted during the election. And, as per the statute of the party, winner cannot be declared unless the candidate garners 51 percent of votes casted for the post of President. Therefore, Baniya and KC, who secured the maximum number of votes in the election are scheduled to go for a second election.
According to Keshav Prasad Kafle, Chief Election Officer of the Province, the election will be held after 11:30 AM on Sunday.
