UML Chairman Oli defends House dissolution moves

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the main opposition CPN-UML and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has defended his two-time House dissolution moves.

Responding to the queries raised in the party’s ongoing Central Committee meeting on Sunday, Chairman Oli argued that any move to go for a fresh mandate can never be termed regressive.

Speaking further Oli said, “Announcing fresh polls is always a right act.”

According to Oli, his decision to recommend dissolving the lower House of parliament was a byproduct of a conspiracy to dissolve the merger between the UML and CPN (Maoist Center) to Nepal Communist Party (NCP). He was of the view that the merger between two parties was done in an aware way.

It is to be noted that Oli recommended President Bidya Devi Bhandari to dissolve the House of Representatives (HoR) on December 20 last year and May 22 earlier this year. Bot the moves, however, were invalidated by the Supreme Court’s Constitutional bench.
