Lumbini-Kapilvastu Global Campaign marks International Day of Peace
KATHMANDU, September 24: On the occasion of International Day of Peace, the Lumbini-Kapilvastu Global Campaign, Belgium, recently organized various activities including a meeting with Leuven city councilor for Global Policy with a campaign “Adopt an SDG”. The online peace workshop and spiritual art performance was organised in collaboration with Butterfly Circles Organization, Damodar Prasad Acharya, Europe Advisor of the Movement said.
The Campaign is a Leuven-based peace organization that uses Buddha's message of non-violence, world peace and social harmony for building a resilient society,
social work and sustainable development.
The Campaign actively supports partnerships at local, national, and international levels and contributes to the achievement of the SDG 16 (Peace) and SDG 17 (Partnerships) goals.
Dr Rajendra Bari, President of the Campaign, said, "We want to bring the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals to the attention of policymakers with the local campaign."
Several speakers from Belgium, Switzerland, Chile, Vietnam, and Nepal took part in the online workshop, it is said.
The speakers talked about the importance of peace and their experiences in helping others to achieve peace including meditation, Yoga, spirituality and overall balance in the body, mind and soul.
During the programme, video presentation was made about dealing with stressful situations during the COVID-19 pandemic and the options to balance the life.
The workshop was also an opportunity for networking and connecting with each other for organising future events, Acharya said.
The participants of the event also participated in the spiritual art performance in Brugge City Center in collaboration of Butterfly Circles organization.
