Revised budget endorsed from both houses; awaiting President’s authentication
KATHMANDU: Revised budget introduced by the incumbent government, which replaced the earlier ordinance budget by its predecessor KP Oli government, has been endorsed by both houses of parliament.
The new budget will come into implementation once it is authenticated by President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
The budget substitution bill tabled by Finance Minister Janardan Sharma was passed by the upper House of parliament --- National Assembly --- and lower House --- House of Representatives -- on Thursday afternoon.
Finance Minister Sharma amended the Rs1.647 trillion budget introduced by his predecessor Bishnu Poudel through the substitution bill.
The bill will now be forwarded to President Bhandari for authentication on Thursday itself.
Owing to failure to introduce a substitution bill before the earlier ordinance budget became void on September 15, Nepal has been witnessed a ‘shutdown’ as no expense from the federal consolidated fund is allowed until the new budget is passed from parliament.
