UML lawmaker seeks Speaker’s resignation
KATHMANDU: A CPN-UML lawmaker has sought the resignation of Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota.
Speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly (NA) on Tuesday, lawmaker Bhairav Sundar Shrestha demanded that Speaker Sapkota step down from his position as the latter ‘failed to maintain the dignity of his post’.
Parliamentarians affiliated with the main opposition UML rose from their seats and obstructed the meeting as soon as Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina began House proceedings.
Lawmaker Shrestha was of the view that Speaker should have immediately taken action against 14 lawmakers who had been sacked by the party [UML].
