Maoist Center accuses Police of delaying registration of lawmaker Bimala Oli's complaint against EX-CM Pokhrel
KATHMANDU, September 15: The CPN (Maoist Center) has accused the Police of delaying registration of a complaint filed by lawmakers Bimala Oli against the former chief minister (CM) Shanker Pokhrel and four other people.
OLi has filed a complaint of abduction and hostage-taking against Pokhrel and four other lawmakers. Oli has maintained that former CM Pokhrel abducted her from Dang and took her hostage for five days.
“The Police have been intentionally delaying registration of the case,” said Tularam Magar, chief whip Maoist Center in Lumbini Province.
OLi has demanded strict action against the then CM of Lumbini Province Shankhar Pokhrel, chief whip of CPN (UML) Bhumishwor Dahal, Kiran Gautam of Pokhrel’s secretariat and Man Bahadur Rawat, UML leader of Dang.
“The complaint cannot be registered here in Butwal. The incident took place in Dang so there are legal provisions that it should be registered in Dang,” said chief DSP of Unit Police Office, Butwal.
However, chief whip Garti said that the case must have been registered in Butwal and referred to Dang. “They are intentionally delaying the procedure.”
Meanwhile, chief of the District Police Office, Dang, Suresh Kafle told Ratopati that no such case has been registered in the district so far.
Likewise, the CPN (UML) has been denying the charge of holding Oli hostage.
