Six including Swagat Nepal protesting at TIA on arrival of MCC officials arrested
KATHMANDU, September 9: The Police have arrested six people including Swagat Nepal who staged a protest at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on arrival of the officials of the Millennium Corporate Challenge (MCC) of the United States of America on Thursday morning.
According to SP Ramesh Basnet, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Circle, six individuals including advocate Swagat Nepal were arrested on charge of staging a protest at TIA on the arrival of MMC officials this morning.
The officials of the MCC, Fatema Z Sumar, vice-president and deputy vice president for Compact Operations Jonathan Brooks arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday morning to discuss the MCC.
The MCC officials' visit comes at the time when the project is awaiting parliamentary rectification.
The officials are scheduled to call Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Finance Minister Janardan Sharma, Energy Minister Pampha Busal among other government officials.
