Krishna Janmashtami being observed today (photos)
KATHMANDU, August 30: Krishna Janmashtami -- an important hindu festival -- is being observed across the country on Monday.
Hindu shrines, especially the Krishna Temples, are being thonged by devotees offering prayers to Lord Krishna.
The festival falls on the eighth day (Ashtami) of Krishna Pakshya in the month of Bhadra, according to the lunar calendar.
On this day, Hindus celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna, who is considered the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu.
Similarly, the Gaura festival is also being observed in the Far-Western region today, worshipping idols of Gaura.
Meanwhile, devotees in Kathmandu Valley have flocked the Krishna Mandir in Patan Durbar Square to offer prayerings to Lord Krishna.
