UML preparing to move court against EC’s 'controversial' decision during CPN (US) registration
KATHMANDU, Aug 27: The main opposition CPN-UML is preparing to knock at the court’s door against the decision taken by the Election Commission (EC) while registering CPN (Unified Socialist).
A Central Committee meeting held on Friday decided to file a writ petition against the poll body’s decision to authenticate 14 lawmakers against whom the party had taken action, on Sunday, next week.
“We’ll lodge a writ petition against the decision of the commission on Sunday,” said Sher Bahadur Tamang, secretary at UML party headquarters.
The UML had expelled 14 parliamentarians including its then senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal on August 17.
The election body, however, authenticated 30 parliamentarians including those 14, and verified the CPN (US) led by leader Nepal on Wednesday.
