COVID-19: 2,248 recover, 1920 contract disease on Sunday

KATHMANDU, Aug 22: The officials confirmed 1,920 new cases of the coronavirus disease on Sunday. As many as 2,248 patients won their battle against the disease. This is the second consecutive day that the number of recoveries is higher than that of new infections.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 2,075 new cases were detected on Saturday while 2,382 patients got over the disease.
With this, Nepal’s COVID-19 recovery tally has hit 698,173. Meanwhile, 24 patients, however, succumbed to the disease on Sunday taking the country’s fatality tally to 10,509.
The latest update shows that 747,433 infections have so far been confirmed through the RT-PCR testing method while 80,209 cases have been detected through the antigen testing technique.
The ministry said that there are at least 38,751 active cases of the fatal disease across the country as of Sunday afternoon.
