Madhav Nepal’s new party’s name changed to NCP (Unified Socialist)
KATHMANDU, Aug 20: A new party led by erstwhile senior leader of the main opposition CPN-UML, Madhav Kumar Nepal, has changed its name citing the name clashes with the CPN-UML.
During its petition for registration on Wednesday, the splinter faction of the UML proposed CPN-UML (Socialist)as its name.
However, a team of party leaders including Rajendra Pandey reached at the Election Commission (EC) on Friday and proposed a new name --- Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist).
Earlier the EC signaled that the party might not be able to use the UML in its name.
Similarly, the earlier proposed 95-member Central Committee has also been expanded to 115.
Meanwhile, another party led by former leader of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), Mahantha Thakur is also preparing to change its name. The party earlier proposed JSP (Democratic).
