Flash flood in Melamchi River sweeps away three more houses, 111 houses swept away so far
KATHMANDU, August 18: A flash flood triggered by an incessant rainfall in the Melamchi River on Tuesday night has swept away three more houses.
Bhimsen Thapa, a local resident, said that three houses at Melamchi-6 were swept away by the flash flood last night. “Houses belonging to Krishna Bahadur, Boj Bahadur and Dipesh Thapa were wiped away by the flood,” he added.
People living in these houses had already left the houses with their belongings as the houses were at high risk of flood and landslide, according to the Information Officer, Dhacha Kumar Basnet at the District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk.
As many as 111 houses have already been swept by the flash floods that occurred in the Melamchi River time and again. Likewise, five people have lost their lives and 20 others are still missing. Floods and Landslides in the area have caused unimaginable destruction.
